Obituary for Darla Jayne Janeway (Rose)

Darla Jayne Janeway, 74, of Gardiner, ME, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME, after a long-fought battle with several brain injuries.

Darla was born in Kearney, Nebraska on July 4, 1948, to Wallace and Norma (Buhmier) Rose. She moved to California her senior year of high school, and graduated from Porterville High in 1966.

Darla was a firm believer in giving unconditional love, which she extended to everyone she knew, but most of all to her four daughters. Any time she was needed she never failed to be there for any of them, no matter what.

She was an employee of the Boys and Girls Club of Kennebec Valley for several years, and was loved by all of her coworkers. She was very dedicated to the important role she played in that organization.

She is survived by four daughters, Marnie Gulseth, of Thief River Falls, MN, and family, Rozlyn Brown, of Porterville, CA, and family, Robyn Jorgensen of Stephenson, VA, and family, Mindy Stanchfield of Gardiner, ME, and family, and her son-in-law, Ethan Stanchfield, also of Gardiner, ME. Three brothers, Charles Humble of Lincoln, NE, and family, Bill Rose of Titusville, FL, and family, and Matthew Rose of Portland, OR, and
family.

Darla was also very proud of her eight grandchildren and their families, Christopher Bush, Corey Thomas, and Matthew and Michael Brown, of Porterville, CA. Sean Jorgensen, of Panama City, FL, Ethan Jorgensen of Mexico, ME, and Gavin and Maverick Stanchfield of Gardiner, ME.

She also leaves behind many beloved friends and extended family.

We lost an angel, but that angel gained her wings.

A celebration of life will be held on a date and time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, ME 04330.
